The Institute for Natural Church
Development (NCD International) was founded in 1989 by the
theologian Christian A. Schwarz. In the nineties it organized an
extensive research project on the subject of church growth under the
leadership of the social scientist and organizational psychologist
Christoph Schalk. This laid the foundations for the present
international ministry.
Over 1,000 churches in more than 32
countries took part in the original study. To date, 65,000 churches
and Christian organizations from 70 countries have participated in
our surveys. In all churches completing three or more surveys, the
average growth rate increased by 51% between the first and the third
surveys.
In 2010, NCD Research International
was launched with the aim of making our database and our research
expertise available to a broader public.
